2021 Veterans Open Champions

Well done to a full field of Veterans travelling from all over our region to participate in our annual Veterans Open this year. Results were:

Ladies Division winner – Miriam Newman from Bundaberg with 31 points
Ladies Division runner-up – Maxine Gilbert from the Sunshine Coast with 30 points
Mens Div 1 winner – Rick Niven with a net 74
Mens Div 1 runner up – Mark Drochmann from Biloela scoring a net 75.
Mens Div 2 winner – Trevor Landore from Calliope with a net 72 on a count back from local Neville Hughes, runner up.
Mens Div 3 was a clear winner with Craig Macnamara scoring a fantastic round of 45 points, 11 points ahead of runner up Paul Jaeger on 34 points.

Mens div 2 – Jorma Laitinen (Calliope)
Mens div 3 – Bill Lawless (Innes Park)

Pin Shots:
Mens div 1 – Brad Busteed hole 1 & 10 and Mark Drochmann hole 9 & 18.
Mens div 2 – Rick Pask hole 4 & 13 and Trevor Landore hole 2 & 11.
Mens div 3 – Craig Macnamara hole 8 & 17 and Peter De Carli hole 1 & 10.
Ladies division were a clean sweep by Maxine Gilbert on holes 3 & 12 and 5 & 14. Congratulations to all players, we look forward to seeing you all next year!

GAPDL Golf Day – Friday 13th August 2021

Thank you and congratulations to all the sponsors and players in the annual GAPDL Members & Mates charity golf day held last Friday 13th August.  The day was a huge success with money raised going to the Agnes Water/1770 Local Ambulance Committee to provide life-saving equipment & training for our local paramedics & community.  Thank you to AVIS Gladstone who was the major sponsor for the day, Engage & 1770 LARC! took up the hole sponsors, APLNG ConocoPhillips & EFEX donated coolers & bags for all players and Arma Insurance brokers setup a Hole In One competition on the 15th hole!  Our local businesses also stepped up with donations and vouchers to be raffled on the day.  Thank you to DC Blooms, Agnes Water Butchery, Agnes Water Rock Shop, Agnes Water Tavern, Agnes Homewares, By the Beach Boutique, Concrete Jellyfish, 1770 Marina Café, Drift & Wood Restaurant, Creek 2 Reef, Codie’s Place, Missy’s Place, Barb O’Keefe, Caltex, Santos, Stephen Bennett MP, Round Hill Pizza Bar, Perspective Collective, Neil Collins & 1770 Lagoons Central Apartment Group.  The winning team on the day with a net 26 went to the ENGAGE team of Angelo, William & Phil, the AVIS Gladstone team of Richie Hyne, Rick Niven & Tom Corpe came in second with a net 27 3/5 and third place went to the Concrete Builders, Synon Holland, Tim McIntosh & Paul Rodi with a net 28.  Congratulations to Michelle Sheppard for winning the ladies longest drive, and Darryl McAllister the mens longest drive.  AVIS team 1 won the pin shot on hole 12 and Angelo Paolotto won the pin shot on hole 17.  Thank you also to the GAPDL staff, Emma, Susan & Melissa who worked tirelessly to plan and run the event.

Our LAC liaises between the community and the QAS to promote community participation in and an awareness of ambulance services.  All funds raised from activities are retained locally to purchase extra equipment and relevant supplies that the dedicated officers request from time to time.  These items enhance the service to the community by way of best patient care and practices.   The LAC organises first aid courses and CPR updates for the community and have a range of first aid kits available for sale to the local community.  The golf day is always greatly supported by players from our local community and region.

Club Champions 2021

Congratulations to our 2021 Club Champions!! The 2 day event culminated in a sudden death playoff for the Mens Champion between Rick Niven and Paul Rodi, both finishing the event with 156, Rick carding rounds of 75 and 81 and Paul 80 and 76. The play off was decided on the 1st hole with Rick unfortunately missing his par putt, handing the win to Paul in true gentlemanly style. The Ladies Champion was won by Tania Dickson this year with a score of 179 over the 36 holes, 9 shots ahead of runner up Lorraine Emery on 188. The ladies open division winner went to Tania Dickson also with a net 145, 7 shots ahead of runner up Hannah Lawrence with a net 152. Mens A Grade winner went to Paul Rodi with a net 146, 8 shots ahead of runner up Nathan Lutton with a net 154 on a countback from Jay Bills. Mens B Grade Champion went to Neville Hughes with a great round of net 146, followed closely by Shawn Horley runner up with a net 150. Peter De Carli won the C Grade Mens Champion with a net 135, 7 shots ahead of runner up Craig Macnamara with net 142. Saturday’s pin shots were won by Shawn Horley hole 3, Andrew Roessler hole 4, Dale Cameron hole 5 and Paul Rodi hole 6. Sunday’s pin shots were won by Joy Plowright on hole 3, Andrew Roessler hole 4, Paul Jaeger hole 5 and David Tarcy hole 6.  Look forward to seeing everyone next year!

CQ 4BBB Qualifying Round 8th May 2021

Congratulations to our CQ 4BBB stableford qualifiers for 2021.  Tania & Julie were the top lady qualifiers with 39 points and Craig & Neville topped the mens qualifiers with 42 points.  Good luck to all players at the final at Yeppoon Golf Club in November.

2021 Ladies Open Champions

The 1770 Ladies Open was won by Nyree Malone from Yeppoon taking out the title for 2021 with a 78 off the stick followed by Miriam Newman from Bundaberg coming in runner up with an 84 on a count back from Lorraine Emery from Miriam Vale.  Liz Price from Boyne/Tannum won the A Grade net with a net 74 with Nadine Battilana from Yeppoon coming in runner up with a net 77 on a count back from Lorraine Emery again.  The ladies B Grade champion was won by Tania Dickson with an 82 off the stick, 11 shots ahead of runner up Sue Brandon from Bundaberg on 93.  B Grade net winner went to Lisa Blanchard from Calliope with a net 76 and Elaine Stewart from Yeppoon came in runner up net with a net 77.  C Grade ladies champion was won by Michelle Sheppard with a 106, 4 shots ahead of runner up Sue Hughes scoring a 110.  C Grade net winner went to Jo Tyrrell with a net 82 and Jean Davis from Bundaberg came in runner up with a net 88.

2021 Mens Open Champions

Congratulations to our 2021 Mens Open champions.  Dylan Parish from Yeppoon was once again our Mens A Grade and overall champion with a sub-par round of 66, 4 shots ahead of runner up Ashley O’Neil from Blackwater.  A Grade Net Champion was a 3 way tie between Rick Niven, Chase Wright and John Burnett, it came down to the last 3 holes on a countback with Rick taking out the title and John Burnett runner up.  Mens B Grade Champion with an impressive score of 2 over par, 70, went to local Nathan Lutton who played exceptionally well coming from the VW Scramble final last weekend.  Shawn Horley came in runner up B Grade 7 shots behind on 77.  B Grade Net champion went to Shane Hazell with a net 67 with Paul Rodi beating Brett Newstead in a count back for runner up with a net 72.  C Grade Mens Champion was won by Andrew Bastin with a fantastic round of 75 off the stick, 10 shots ahead of runner up Neale Dent on 85.  C Grade Net Champion was won by John Jennings with a net 71 with Craig Macnamara taking out runner up with a net 75.

A date for the 2022 PGA Scramble will be advised soon.  We look forward to working with local Bundaberg PGA Professional Craig Swift  to hold another fantastic qualifying round in 2022.
