1770 Veterans Open Wednesday 28th October 2020

Our 2020 Veterans Open will be held on Wednesday 28th October.  Congratulations to our 2019 winning champions Vic, Jean, Gary, Tania & John.  We look forward to seeing you all again soon!

2020 CQ 4BBB Qualifying Round – 26/09/20

Congratulations to our CQ 4BBB stableford qualifiers for 2020.  Sue & Tania were the top lady qualifiers with 33 points followed by Jo-Anne & Denise with 28 points.  Top mens qualifiers were Jay & Tim scoring 41 points followed by Geoff & Dale with 40 points on a count back from Neville & Craig third.  Good luck to all players at Capricorn Resort in November.

1770 Volkswagen Scramble – Sunday 6th December 2020

2019 Volkswagen Scramble winners

The PGA Volkswagen Scramble for 2020 will be held on Sunday 6th December.  Congratulations to 2019 winning team of Aaryn, Shane, Kina & Tim who won with a net 50 5/8 and have recently won the regional final also at Capricorn Resort, they are now heading to Twin Waters for the National Final!  Thank you to Bundaberg Autoworld our local Volkswagen sponsor, and thank you to Craig Swift, PGA golf professional from Bundaberg who assists us every year with the running this fantastic event.  Look forward to seeing you all again in 2020 on 6th December!

Club Championships 1st & 2nd August 2020

2020 Club Champions

Congratulations to our club champions for 2020!  A fantastic turnout considering the current conditions and a huge thank you to our away members who made the trip to 1770 for the weekend for the event.  Congratulations to Lorraine Emery who took out the Ladies Champion for 2020, improving on her first day’s score by 10 shots to finish the event with a score of 180 for the 36 holes, Tania Dickson came in runner up for the ladies with a 188 over 36 holes.  Sue Hughes won the ladies division with a net 154 followed closely by Michelle Sheppard placing runner up with a net 155.  Congratulations also to John Burnett who took out Mens title for 2020 with a fantastic par round on day 1, completing the event scoring a 142 for 36 holes, Andrew Roessler came in runner up scoring 148 over 36 holes.  Andrew won the Mens A Grade with a net 144 on a count back from John Burnett.  B Grade Mens was won by Geoff Nash with a great day 2 round playing to his handicap and scoring a net 138 over the 36 holes, Clive Laurenson came in runner up for B Grade with a net 141.  Mens C Grade went to Dale Cameron playing 2 shots under his handicap on day 2 to score a net 137 for the event, 11 shots ahead of runner up Paul Buchholz on a net 148.  Well done to all players, look forward to seeing you again next year!

Please note that due to the current health pandemic and the restrictions that were placed on golf courses and social gatherings we have decided to cancel our Ladies Open that was due to be played on Sunday 19th April.  We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused players, however we believe this was the safest and most responsible decision given the current situation.

Junior Summer Classic – January 21st – 23rd

The inaugural Macdonald and Michel Lawyers Pty Ltd 1770/Agnes Water Junior Summer Golf Classic was held last week and what a fantastic 3 days of golf was had by both players and parents.  The weather was not the kindest however the enthusiasm of the juniors made up for the heat.  For our local players, Hannah & Param, it was their first taste of junior golf competition and all the practice paid off when Hannah was awarded the 6 hole girls champion scoring a 73 over the 2 days and Param the 6 hole boys runner up with an 88 for the 2 days play.  Hannah also won the longest drive and pin shot for the 6 hole girls on day 1 and Param won the 6 hole boys longest drive on day 2.  The 18 holes girls A Grade champion was won by Aimee Garland from Maryborough with a gross 167 for the 2 days and the 18 holes boys A Grade champion went to Ben Duncombe from Coral Cove with a round of 139 off the stick at conclusion of the 2 days.  Thank you to Shelley Scott & Derran Corke, organisers for the Classic and also to major sponsors, Macdonald and Michel Lawyers, Agnes Water Tavern and CQ Diesel Fitting and supporting businesses, Sandcastles 1770, Floorzone, Caltex, Pavillions on 1770, Ray White & Ashmore Palms Holiday Village.  Thank you to all the juniors who participated we look forward to seeing everybody next year!
